About the Author

Philémon M. OWONA

Philemon M. Owona is an independent student of history and a passionate researcher of ancient history, human migrations, and the collective memory of so-called Bantou peoples. For many years, he has pursued a personal and intellectual quest: to identify the geographical, spiritual, and historical origins of the people to whom he belongs — the Ékang people.

After studying Economics and Business Management and living and working in Geneva, Switzerland, for more than fifteen years, he embarked on an ambitious historical investigation to answer questions that many considered unanswerable. Above all, one fundamental question stood out: Who are the Ékang people?

Unsatisfied with conventional narratives, the accounts left by successive empires, and certain interpretations found in mainstream history books, the author undertook an extensive process of research, comparison, and cross-examination of historical sources. His investigation led him to explore oral traditions, historical archives, migration narratives, linguistic studies, and documentary sources from Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

This years-long quest uncovered remarkable historical clues, traditions, and findings, which are carefully presented in this book. Through this work, Philemon M. Owona invites readers on a journey through history, memory, and identity, encouraging them to revisit the origins and historical trajectory of a people whose story may hold unexpected revelations for Africa and beyond.
