ÉKANG People Festival
Recognising a legacy that has carried a people across two millennia and three continents.
This platform reaches out to institutions, patrons, artists and families to propose a partnership in honour of African and diaspora heritage, with special attention to the invaluable contributions of the Ékang people — a significant group within the broader African Bantu community. The initiative sets out to recognise the Ékang legacy and its influence across the global African diaspora.
Phase one
The official launch of a decade-long investigation, culminating in the first book to uncover and document the true origins and remarkable history of the Ékang people. The publication is built to serve both scholarly research and community education.
Phase two
An annual festival, held during the last week of November, dedicated to celebrating and remembering this heritage. It is envisioned as a touchstone for cultural expression, unity and education among descendants and supporters worldwide.
Mvett recitals, dance, textile and craft, cuisine and the living languages of the Ékang nations.
Lectures, school programmes and open archives built on the book's sources and the migration record.
Bringing together Bëti, Fang, Bulu, Ntumu and diaspora communities around one shared memory.
A permanent record — recordings, testimonies and scholarship — handed to the generations that follow.
